Shifted: The Backstory (Avengers/Loki x reader)

You woke up to just another day at your new home, the Avengers tower. You sigh and uncover yourself from your much too large blankets on your much too large bed. Being a secret agent/avenger at the age of twelve was kind of cool, but a lot of times it sucked. You wouldn't be here if it hadn't been for your insane mother. You shuddered at the memories you had of her...


For as long as you could remember your mom had basically LIVED in her laboratory. Whenever she actually came up from her lab, you could tell her mind was still there. So you spent almost all your time with your dad, you played superheroes and ponies and everything you wanted. That was, until the accident..


When you were six,your mom had insisted she had found the cure to asthma, which your dad had always suffered severely from. She insisted he come to her lab immediately. He never came back. That was when you realized she wasn't a regular scientist, she was a mad one. Three years later, your mom called you down to her lab, telling you she had an amazing gift for you to make up for everything. You hurried down the stairs, hoping that just maybe, your mom would blow up the lab so you two could spend time together. You were dead wrong.


Just as your feet bounded onto the floor of your basement, you saw a flash of light, and immediately after a very intense pain coursed through your body. You screamed and cried and begged, but whatever experiment your mother was testing on you, she wouldn't stop. You fell to your hands and knees, unable to stand. Finally the light was gone, but your pain would linger for the rest of your life. She smiled wickedly down at you.


"What.." you coughed, "What did you just do to me..?" She laughed, then replied.
"I've given you what you have always wanted! To be a superhero, of course! Go look at yourself in the mirror!" You did. You were skinnier, better-built, and looked bad-ass. Then you ran from home.
